Aurora cancels fireworks from Fourth of July event; adds wildfire fundraising effort

Aurora eliminates fireworks from Fourth of July event; adds wildfire fundraising effort

Due to the severe weather conditions affecting Colorado and the unprecedented wildfire season, the Arapahoe County Sheriff and the city of Aurora have decided to eliminate the fireworks portion of Aurora’s annual Fourth of July event. The rest of the evening’s activities will continue as planned.

We ask residents of Aurora and the metro area to come out to the Aurora Municipal Center, 15151 E. Alameda Parkway, at 6 p.m. July 4 to participate in the event and make a cash or check donation to the American Red Cross in support of the victims of the Colorado wildfires.

Our thoughts go out to the victims of the fires and the men and women risking their lives to fight the fires across our state. We invite everyone to come out to the event and show their support with “A little help. A lot of hope.”
